The past week, as with every week, was filled with exciting film news; Dwayne Johnson announced that Black Adam has finished shooting, Antonio Banderas has been cast in a mystery role within Indiana Jones 5, and Henry Cavill takes on yet another project. Check all this out, and more, below!
Black Adam has finished filming
Dwayne Johnson, who stars as the titular character, posted a video to Instagram recently that contained a heartfelt message to cast and crew members to thank them for all their hard work.
The actor stated that Black Adam is a “career defining moment” for him, and he cannot wait for the world to see the film.
We also see members take part in a prize draw to win some money, which seems like a very fun way to end the filming process.
The comic origins of Black Adam say that he was a slave known as Teth-Adam, until he got his powers via the ancient wizard, Shazam. After abusing his powers, Adam spends multiple millennia in prison and, from then on, becomes Shazam’s arch-nemesis.
Johnson’s character was supposed to appear in the 2019 film Shazam! opposite Zachary Levi; however, this idea was swapped out for a solo movie due to Johnson’s popularity in the film industry.
With the movie done filming, now we must sit back and wait for a trailer to arrive, hopefully soon!
Indiana Jones 5 casts Antonio Banderas in mystery role
The fifth and final instalment to the long-running franchise has added yet another cast member to the roster.
Antonio Banderas will star in Indiana Jones 5, with Harrison Ford in the titular role, as well as Mads Mikkelsen and Boyd Holbrook.
Banderas’ role is still unknown but, with the already impressive cast, the inclusion of the Pain and Glory actor sets the bar even higher and expectations for this movie have definitely been raised.
As little to no details have been released in regard to the film’s plot, it is hard to guess what kind of role Banderas might play; but since the leak about flashbacks being in the film arose, it’s possible that he could be playing someone from Jones’ past.
John Wick 4 will see the return of Ian McShane
While the highly-anticipated fourth film in the John Wick franchise seems to keep adding new actors each week, it was revealed recently that Ian McShane’s character Winston will return for the next adventure.
Winston has been in every film in the franchise as the owner of The Continental, a hotel that discreetly aids those who have a very specific career. Keanu Reeves’ John Wick has been coming to Winston for years, and it is a welcome surprise to see the hotel owner once again.
McShane’s character has been a pillar for these films, being that recognisable face Wick sees rather frequently.
The end of the third movie saw Wick get shot by Winston and left for dead, so it will be interesting to see what Winston has to say for himself in the upcoming film, which is set to release in May 2022.
Set photos from Evil Dead 4 confirm movie is almost finished filming
Director and writer, Lee Cronin, has teased fans with a set photo, confirming that the movie, titled Evil Dead Rise, is officially halfway finished.
The popular horror series began in 1981 with The Evil Dead, which saw a group of college students who decided to relax in a cabin in the middle of the woods.
Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) had to fight his way out when supernatural entities were released, and his friends fell victim to possession.
The upcoming movie is said to take place in an urban setting; instead of a tiny cabin in the deep of the woods, the feature will be set in a skyscraper.
Despite no details being released in regard to the plot, it is still exciting to see that the film is halfway done; the movie should be releasing in 2022.
Henry Cavill will star in The Rosie Project
Henry Cavill is becoming a very popular and significant actor, with The Witcher getting a second season, and his new role in Matthew Vaughn’s new spy franchise Argylle keeping him busy. Now, the Superman actor will be starring in a literary adaptation.
The Rosie Project has cast Cavill in the adaptation of the book with the same name. The romantic genre will definitely be a change of pace for the actor, as his roles in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and Mission Impossible: Fallout are quite the opposite to his new role.
The book follows genetics professor Don Tillman, who struggles to have relationships with women. In order to change this, he creates a questionnaire for his dates so he can see who would suit him best; however, when he meets Rosie, his polar opposite, they fall in love.
Production is still looking for a female lead to join Cavill, so we will be keeping an eye out for casting news.
