Julie Walters' career is to be recognised at the Moet British Independent Film Awards as she is to receive the outstanding achievement award.

Moet British Independent Film Awards will take place on Sunday and will see Walters collect the Richard Harris Award for her work.

Julie Walters kicked off her acting career back in 1972, since then she has enjoyed a huge amount of success on the big and small screen.

She has starred in British dramas such as Educating Rita and Billy Elliot - winning a Bafta and being Oscar nominated for both - to blockbuster projects such as the Harry Potter franchise.

She has also had television success with hard hitting drama such as My Beautiful Son, Mo and A Short Stay in Switzerland.

She will be back on the big screen next year with roles in The Harry Hill Movie and Effie Gray.

Walters is currently working on the big screen adaptation of Paddington with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman.

Previous recipients of the Richard Harris Award include Daniel Day-Lewis, John Hurt, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Michael Gambon.
