Julianne Moore says she felt a 'tremendous responsibility' when she took on the central role in her new film Still Alice.
Still Alice has just started preview screening and has already been met with rave reviews - especially for Moore's central performance, which sees her play a woman who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
And the actress wanted to portray this disease and its effects in as real a way as possible, and did a lot of research as she prepared for the role.
Speaking to the Press Association, the actress said: "You feel a tremendous sense of responsibility because you're dealing with a real disorder, an actual disease that people deal with every day.
"There's not a lot known about it and not much information out there, but I think the families and the people who are suffering from the disease are anxious for people to know what they're going through.
"I did a lot of research, people were extraordinarily generous with their time and their information - from the heads of the Alzheimer's association, to care givers and families and people who are in the early stages of the disease. Everyone was extraordinary and really went out of their way."
Moore's performance is already being tipped as a major Oscar contender - many believing that she is the favourite in what is so far a weak Best Actress category this time around.
Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland are in the director's chair for the film, while Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth, and Alec Baldwin are also on the cast list.
Still Alice is set to hit the big screen in the UK on 6th March 2015.
