Julia Roberts says Chiwetel Ejiofor was her "belly-laughing comrade" on 'The Secret in Their Eyes'.
Roberts can currently be seen in the crime thriller alongside the British actor, 38, and despite the serious tone of the drama, in which they play a pair of FBI agents, they always had fun on set.
She said: "I don't think that you always get the fun to balance the intense, but in this instance I found a really humorous, belly-laughing comrade in Chiwetel Ejiofor.
"Unexpected, in that he is so talented and English and handsome, and I guess I just thought those didn't equate to belly-laughing. I was so happy to find out they do."
The duo portray FBI investigators Ray and Jess alongside Nicole Kidman as their district-attorney supervisor Claire.
And the 'Pretty Woman' actress was delighted to have such a close knit cast.
Speaking on UK TV show 'Lorraine', she said: "I mean honestly, when I think about the cast, and don't forget this person we were really just so fortunate. We were all kind of just there and we were all in it together. We loved it."
In the movie, following the brutal murder of Jess' teenage daughter, their agents' friendships are torn apart, but after 13 years obsessively searching for the elusive killer, Ray uncovers a new lead that he is certain can permanently resolve the case - only for a shocking secret threatens their closure.
