Dame Judi Dench and Scarlett Johansson have been nominated for the Best Actress at the MOËT British Independent Film Awards and will go head-to-head next month for the title..

The Hollywood actresses will go head-to-head next month to win the gong for their performances in 'Philomena' and 'Under the Skin' as they battle it out against fellow stars Lindsay Duncan, Felicity Jones and Saoirse Ronan.

Meanwhile, Jack O'Connell for 'Starred Up', Jim Broadbent for 'Le Week-end', Steve Coogan for 'Philomena', Tom Hardy for 'Locke' and James McAvoy for 'Filth' are in the running to take home the Best Actor award for their remarkable performances in their films.

The highest number of nominations in 2013 went to 'Starred Up' after it received eight out of a possible fifteen nods, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director for David Mackenzie, Best Actor for Jack O'Connell, and two Best Supporting Actors for Rupert Friend and Ben Mendelson.

Joint directors, Johanna von Fischer and Tessa Collinson said: "We would like to thank our dedicated members who viewed over 200 films, in an extremely competitive year."

The winners of the MOËT British Independent Film Awards will be chosen by an independent jury and the winners will be announced on Sunday 8 December at the Old Billingsgate in London.

The event will be streamed live exclusively on www.film3sixty.com/moetbifa from 8PM.
