Jude Law has revealed that there was a meeting earlier this year to discuss a third Sherlock Holmes film.
Law says he met up with Robert Downey Jr and director Guy Ritchie to chat about a third instalment, and says that the film is not in the writing stages.
The film would see Law reprise the role of Dr Watson, while Downey Jr would be back in the title role.
Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "We had a meeting earlier this year, the three of us, and I think it's being written now.
He added: "Warner Bros. have still got to agree to pay for it... I think they want to!"
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows was released back in 2011 and enjoyed box office success just like the first instalment.
'Iron Man 3' writer Drew Pearce has been tapped to pen the script.
Law will be returning to the big screen next week as he takes on the title role in Dom Hemingway.
He has also completed work on The Grand Budapest Hotel - the latest film from director Wes Anderson.
