Joss Whedon says that he would jump at the chance to direct a Black Widow solo film.
Whedon steered Avengers Assemble and Avengers: Age of Ultron to box office success and has supported fan calls for a Black Widow solo film.
There has been a lot of talk about a Black Widow solo film since Avengers Assemble and fans have been left disappointed that one is still not part of the Marvel schedule.
Speaking to IGN, the filmmaker said: "If someone pointed at me and said, 'Do you want to do a Black Widow movie?', the answer would be 'Duh!'"
Kevin Feige said that Marvel was 'emotionally committed' to a Black Widow film earlier this year, but did not hint at when we may see this solo film.
Scarlett Johansson was first introduced as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 back in 2010. She has since gone on to appear in Avengers Assemble, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: The Winter Solider and Captain America: Civil War, which was released earlier this year.
With ever film, the character's popularity has grown and we are expecting the actress to return to the character in Avengers: Infinity War.
The cast list for the two-part Marvel film has yet to be announced but will see Anthony and Joe Russo in the director's chair.
The Russo brothers have steered the last two Captain America movies to both critical and commercial success but this will be the first time that they have directed an Avengers film.
As for Whedon, we have not seen him in the director's chair since the billion dollar success of Avengers: Age of Ultron last year.
