Joss Whedon has revealed that if he was to tackle another Shakespeare project then it would be Hamlet.

Whedon is back in the director's chair this week as he brings his interpretation of Much Ado About Nothing to the big screen.

Whedon directed and penned the screenplay for the new adaptation, which stars Amy Acker, Nathan Fillion and Clark Gregg.

And Whedon admits that he would be happy to take on another Shakespeare project in the future.

Speaking to Digital Spy the director said: "Hamlet. It's not like I'm original. That's one of the problems, I think about it for so long that by the time I get around to doing it the guy I want for Hamlet is playing Lear.

"I don't have anyone in mind. It's too close to me that role, so it's very tough to think. Everybody has an aspect so you think, 'Oh, I could do it with him, I could do it with him, I could do it with him'.

"But when you're filming something it has to feel definitive."

Much Ado About Nothing is the first film for Whedon since box office smash Avengers Assemble last summer.

The movie was filmed in just twelve days and was premiered at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival.

Much Ado About Nothing is released 14the June.
