Joseph Gordon-Levitt has given an update on the status of Sandman, saying that the script is still be worked on.
Gordon-Levitt has been attached to direct and produce the film for some time; whether he will actually star in the movie is to be announced.
The movie will be based on the series of comics by Neil Gaiman: and the author is one of the people that is currently working on getting a script together.
Speaking to Moviefone, Gordon-Levitt said: "Right now we’re working on a script. It’s me and Goyer and the screenwriter and Neil Gaiman, as well as the good folks at DC and Warner Bros.
"It’s a really cool team of people. It’s a lot of the same people who worked on the Nolan Batman movies. It’s really exciting.
"There’s not a script yet, we’re still kind of working it out because it’s such a complicated adaptation because Sandman wasn’t written as novels. Sin City was written as a novel.
"Sandman is 75 episodic issues. There’s a reason people have been trying and failing to adapt Sandman for the past 20 years."
Gordon-Levitt made his directorial debut last year with Don Jon, but he has concentrated on acting in 2014.
He will be back in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and has just finished shooting The Walk with director Robert Zemeckis.
