Jonah Hill has sprung to the defence of his new film The Wolf of Wall Street, saying that it doesn't glorify immoral behaviour.

Hill stars alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the big screen adaptation of the memoir by Jordan Belfort.

While Hill's character does develops a cocaine addiction and cheat on his wife, Hill says the film does show that this lifestyle leads to a 'bad ending'.

Speaking to Variety.com, the actor said: "I personally take away the message from the film that this behaviour, this lifestyle, leads to a very bad ending.

"I think the movie is not glorifying this behaviour, it is showing that it leads to bad places whether their judicial punishment doesn't reflect that is one thing. Where your life ends up, who you are as a person, is another."

The Wolf of Wall Street sees Hill team up with director Martin Scorsese for the first time.

2014 is set to be a busy year for the action as he has also completed work on The Lego Movie, True Story and 22 Jump Street.

The Wolf of Wall Street is released 17th January.
