Jonah Hill has revealed that he did not audition for his role in Moneyball.
The actor took on the part of Peter Brand in the Bennett Miller directed movie and Hill admits that he just sent the director a copy of Cyrus.
Speaking to Deadline the actor said: "I didn't audition. I showed Bennett Cyrus before it came out and that's what they cast me from."
"You know I was at the bottom of a list of actors who weren't known for their dramatic work.
"I knew Bennett socially and he knew I was eager to break out of whatever box I was in. As a respected filmmaker he wanted to make an unsuspecting choice."
And Miller's faith in Hill was rewarded as he has picked up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his performance.
Moneyball has gone on to pick up five other Oscar nods including Best Picture and Best Actor for Brad Pitt.
The Oscar winners will be announced Sunday 26th February.
