Jon Favreau is the latest name to join the Spider-Man: Homecoming cast list.
Yes, Favreau is returning to the MCU to reprise the role of Happy, who was a constant during the Iron Man franchise.
It makes sense that we are going to see Happy appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, as we already know that Robert Downey Jr will be reprising the role of Tony Stark.
Favreau cast himself as Happy in Iron Man, a film which he directed, back in 2008, before going on to reprise the role in Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 in 2010 and 2013.
Iron Man 3 was the last time that we saw the character of Happy and it is great to see him back in the MCU. We will have to wait and see if he comes face to face with Spider-Man himself.
Filming on Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is a collaboration between Marvel and Sony, is well under way and sees Jon Watts back in the director's chair. It is his first feature since Cop Car last year and the first time that he has directed a Marvel movie.
The film sees Tom Holland, who we met earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War, reprise the role of Spider-Man for his first solo film.
Holland, Downey Jr, and Favreau will be joined on the cast list by Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, and Angourie Rice.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the second of three Marvel movies to be released in 2017' coming between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Thor: Ragnarok.
2016 has already been a hugely successful year for Favreau, who returned to the director's chair to steer The Jungle Book to critical and commercial success. The movie opened to acclaim in the spring and has gone on to gross over $961 million at the global box office.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is released 7th July 2017.
