Johnny Depp is set to return to the big screen in Black Mass where he will play crime boss Whitey Bulger and the first image from the film has been released.
Entertainment Weekly have got their hands on the first image and, as you can see, Deep has undergone quite a transformation to play this interesting role.
Black Mass is based on the book by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill and sees Scott Cooper back in the director's chair for the first time since Out of the Furnace.
This will be the third feature of Cooper's career - he made his debut back in 2009 - with Crazy Heart and this will be the first time that he has teamed up with Depp.
Depp is not stranger to the crime genre with the likes of Public Enemies and Donnie Brasco under his belt during his career. Sadly, Depp has suffered from some poor projects of late and even poorer responses at the box office, but Black Mass looks set to be another character driven piece where the Oscar nominated actor can really thrive.
However, Black Mass is not all about Depp as a great supporting cast has been assembled. Benedict Cumberbatch is on board as Whitey brother Bill Bulger, while Joel Edgerton will play FBI agent John Conolly.
Dakota Johnson, Juno temple, Corey Stoll, Kevin Bacon, Adam Scott, and Peter Sarsgaard complete the impressive line up.
Black Mass tells the true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.
As for Depp, he is currently filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - where he will reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. He has also finished work on Yoga Hosers and London Fields.
Black Mass is released 25th September.
