Johnny Depp refuses to watch his own movies.

The 'Lone Ranger' star has revealed he hasn't watched any of his films in years because he prefers not to know how his performance has been edited and believes it helps to preserve his sanity.

The 50-year-old actor told the July issue of Rolling Stone magazine: "I prefer to walk away with the experience. My job, as an actor, is to give the director options. You can only hope that the takes that you thought were the best were chosen. But, then again, if I don't watch it, I'll never know. So, better off."

Johnny admitted the last one of his movies that he saw was 'The Libertine' in 2004, in which he portrayed the Earl of Rochester, and claimed he only watched it because the director, Laurence Dunmore, personally asked him to.

He added: "That's one I'd really recommend."

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star the actor also revealed that he thinks about retiring from acting "every day", but is unlikely to do so in the near future.

He said: "I think while I've got the opportunity and the desire and the creative spark to do the things that I can do right now, I should do them. And then, at a certain point, just take it down to the bare minimum and concentrate on, I guess, living life. Really living life.

"And going somewhere where you don't have to be on the run, or sneak in through the kitchen or the underground labyrinth of the hotel.

"At a certain point, when you get old enough or get a few brain cells back, you realise that, on some level, you lived a life of a fugitive."
