Johnny Depp has described his characters as his 'pals'.
The actor will be back on the big screen this summer as he is set to play Tonto in The Lone Ranger, which will be directed by Gore Verbinski.
Depp is famed for his slightly off the wall characters and he says that when you are working on a movie they are people that you get to know really well.
Speaking to TV Times the actor said: "You get possessed by the roles you play. All the characters I've played I've got to know and like and become pals with.
"So it's hard to say goodbye at the end. You feel you've lost a piece of yourself."
The Lone Ranger will be the fifth project that Depp and Verbinski have worked on together; they made the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movie and Rango.
The Lone Ranger is the first movie outing for Depp since Dark Shadows and will see him team up with Armie Hammer for the very first time.
Depp is currently working on Transcendence while there is a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film in the pipeline.
The Lone Ranger is released 9th August.
