John Hurt has hit out at Harvey Weinstein's desire to cut twenty minutes out of Snowpiercer.
Hurt stars alongside Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, and Tilda Swinton in the film, which marks the English speaking directorial debut for Bong Joon-ho.
And the actor says that he wants to see the full version of the film hit the big screen.
Speaking to HeyUGuys on the red carpet, the actor said: "I think it is a wonderful film, and I want it to be shown in the English speaking territories in its full version.
"I am not in agreement with Harvey Weinstein, who wants to cut twenty minutes out of it. I known what he will cut out.
"It’s endemic with him; he can’t help [it]. He’s always doing it, he’s constantly doctoring. He takes something on and everybody has to hail that: I do, I salute that.
"But then he wants to change it. He doesn't trust his directors, and that I can't salute."
Snowpiercer is set in a future where a failed experiment to stop global warming creates an ice age that kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine.
A class system evolves on the train, but a revolution brews.
No UK release date for the film has yet been announced, but the movie will be screened at the Berlin Film Festival.
