John Goodman reveals that he is 'not crazy' about watching himself on screen in his movies.

Goodman has returned this weekend with new film The Gambler, which sees him team up with Mark Wahlberg. And he admits that the scene in which he is only in a towel was not a moment in the movie that he enjoyed watching again.

Speaking to HeyUGuys, the actor said: "That was very unpleasant to watch. There were a lot of takes. I was very, very self-conscious that day. I felt not unlike a butter sculpture.

"There are times when I'm very self-conscious, and that scene was very unpleasant to watch, because I'm sure it was uncomfortable doing it, but I tried to forget about all that. It wasn't pleasant.

"But it usually depends on the dialogue in regards to my comfort level of watching it. I'll be honest with you though, I'm not crazy about watching myself on screen."

The Gambler is the first time that we have seen Goodman on the big screen since The Monuments Men, however, he did lend his voice to Transformers: Age of Extinction last summer.

The Gambler sees Rupert Wyatt in the director's chair, while Goodman and Wahlberg are joined on the cast list by Jessica Lange, Brie Larson, and Michael Kenneth Williams.

As for Goodman, we will be seeing more of him in 2015, as he has already completed work on Trumbo and Valencia. Trumbo will see him team up with Bryan Cranston, Elle Fanning, Helen Mirren and Diane Lane, in a movie that is based on the book by Bruce Cook.

Valencia will see the actor tackle the thriller as Dan Trachtenberg make his feature film directorial debut.

The Gambler is out now.
