Joel Kinnaman says that he was drawn to Suicide Squad because he was keen to work with filmmaker David Ayer.
Kinnaman is back on the big screen this weekend as he takes on the role of Rick Flag in Suicide Squad, which sees him work with Ayer for the first time.
Ayer has brought us movies such as Fury and End of Watch and this is the first time that he has tackled a superhero film.
Talking about what drew him to the film on the red carpet in London earlier this week, Kinnaman said: "What attracted me to it was the fact that David Ayer was going to do a superhero movie. I was a big fan of his work. When I found out about this character I did think that it was fascinating.
"These top military guys do an incredible sacrifice and they do some really difficult stuff; they sacrifice their sleep at night. It was fascinating to get into that world. And then, the rest of this cast is alright."
Kinnaman joins an all-star cast as Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, and Viola Davis are just some of the other names who are on board.
Suicide Squad is the second DC Comic movie of the year and follows Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice onto the big screen. Warner Bros continues to grow the DC movie world but it is not yet known if we will get a Suicide Squad sequel.
As for Kinnaman, we have also seen him back on the small screen this year as he took on the role of Will Conway in hit television series House of Cards.
Suicide Squad is out now.
