Jane Got A Gun is set to hit the big screen in September 2015, and will see Edgerton star alongside Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, and Rodrigo Santoro - however, there were a string of changes made to who was on board.

Lynne Ramsay was originally set to direct the film, but quit the project just before shooting got underway. However, Gavin O'Connor - who worked with Edgerton on Warrior - was brought in to take over the director's chair.

Edgerton was also took over the role of Dan Frost, which was originally set to be played by Michael Fassbender. Despite all of the changes and upheaval, Edgerton says that they have made a movie that he is 'proud' of.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the actor said: "It was like musical chairs. Everybody swapping roles, and the director going AWOL."

"We forged a great movie out of fire, because it was a difficult situation, but the result of all those difficulties and hardships along the way has been remarkable.

"I just finished the last piece of work on that movie. I'm really, really proud of it, and I needed to be proud of it, because we worked so hard to keep that thing from falling over."

As for Edgerton, he is back on the big screen on Boxing Day, as he takes on the role of Rhamses in Exodus: Gods and Kings, which sees him work with director Ridley Scott.

The actor has also completed work on gangster film Black Mass with Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch and biopic Life. Life chronicles the friendship between James Dean and Life Magazine photographer Dennis Stock. Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson will star as Dean and Stock, while Edgerton is on board as John Morris.

Jane Got A Gun is released 25th September 2015.
