Joe Wright has heaped praise on Hugh Jackman, calling the actor a 'real company leader.'
Wright is set to return to the director's chair with Pan, a new interpretation of the Peter Pan story that we all know so well. The new trailer was released earlier this week and it sees Wright step into the CGI world where he has not really worked before.
Pan sees the director team up with Hugh Jackman for the first time as the Oscar nominated actor takes on the role of pirate Blackbeard in the film - I am really excited to see the actor play a real baddie.
And Wright had nothing but great things to say about Jackman, calling him a 'delight' to work with.
Speaking to HeyUGuys, the director said: "It's really interesting with Hugh. He works really, really hard. I really appreciate that. He has a background in theatre so he is a grafter. He comes very prepared and is totally playful. A real company leader and is ridiculously generous and spirited. He's just a delight.
"I kept on looking for a dark side or a moment he might crack. He never did. He would walk around the set on Fridays with 400 lottery cards and give them all out to the crew as a Friday treat. He's just the nicest bloke."
Wright has brought together an impressive cast as Rooney Mara, Garrett Hedlund, Amanda Seyfried, Cara Delevingne, Nonso Anozie, and Paul Kaye are all on board. We are also going to be introduced to the acting talents of Levi Miller, who takes on the central role of Peter Pan in the film.
Pan is set to be the sixth feature film of Wright's career and comes after he has enjoyed success with the likes of Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. It is the first film his adaptation of Anna Karenina back in 2012.
Pan is set to be a new take on a well known tale and will take audiences on an exciting and, at time, dark, adventure. Pan really does look set to be one of the unmissable autumn movies - I really cannot wait to see what Wright has done with this tale.
Pan is released 16th October.
