J.J. Abrams has described Carrie Fisher as 'crazy brilliant' in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Fisher is set to return to the big screen this December as she reprises the role of Leia in the hugely anticipated The Force Awakens.
It will be the first time that we have seen Fisher reprise the role of Leia since The Return of the Jedi back in 1983 as she teams up with director Abrams for the first time.
And Abrams has done nothing but heaped praise on the actress. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: "She is crazy brilliant ... It's an amazing thing, her sort of free-associative mind, her ability to find humour in anything - she's like a divining rod for wordplay. She's incredible."
Fans of the franchise all know Fisher's character of Princess Leia, but it seems that she is going to be called General this time around.
Abrams continued: "She's referred to as General. But... there's a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her 'Princess'."
The Force Awakens sees Abrams take over the director's chair of the Star Wars series for the first time and this is his first feature since Star Wars Into Darkness back in 2013. As well as being in the director's chair, Abrams also teamed up with Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt to pen the screenplay.
Abrams is one of the most exciting filmmakers around and I cannot wait to see him put his own stamp on this already iconic franchise. It looks set to be one of the biggest films of the year - the booking of tickets has already smashed records.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released 17th December.
