Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons have become the latest addiction to the Superman vs. Batman cast list.
Eisenberg will takes on the role of villain Lex Luthor, in what will be the first time that we have seen this character in the rebooted Superman franchise.
Eisenberg is perhaps an unexpected actor to takes on their role with the likes of Bryan Cranston and Joaquin Phoenix having been linked to the part in recent months.
Speaking of the character of Lex Luthor and the casting of Eisenberg, Zack Snyder said:
"Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman's rivals, his unsavoury reputation preceding him since 1940.
"He's a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions."
Superman vs. Batman will be the first time that we have seen the character of Alfred since The Dark Knight Rises, as Irons takes over this role from Michael Caine.
Snyder added: "As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne's most trusted friend ... a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honour to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on [this] important role."
Henry Cavill will reprise the role of Superman in the sequel to Man of Steel, while Ben Affleck will be introduced as Bruce Wayne.
Gal Gadot will also be on the cast list as she will play Wonder Woman for the first time in the Snyder directed movie.
Filming is set to get underway later this year.
