Irons takes on the role of Alfred for the first time in the sequel to Man of Steel, and it looks like we are going to see a very different Alfred to what we have seen in previous movies.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said: Zack Snyder had very clear views about what he wanted. I would say he's more hand-on perhaps than just a butler."

This is the first time that we will have seen the character of Alfred on the big screen since The Dark Knight Rises, as Irons takes over the role from Michael Caine: who starred in all three of the Christopher Nolan directed films.

However, other than telling us Alfred will be more hands-on, Irons did not reveal anything more about the highly anticipated film, which will sees Superman and Batman come face to face.

Irons is not the only new face on the cast list, as Ben Affleck takes over the role of Batman, Gal Gadot is on board as Wonder Woman, while Jesse Eisenberg will be introduced as Lex Luthor for the first time.

Filming has just wrapped on Dawn of Justice, which will see Snyder in the director's chair for the first time since Man of Steel.

As for Irons, we will be seeing him back on the big screen next year, as he has also completed work on The Man Who Knew Infinity and High-Rise.

The actor is currently working on sports drama Race, which is about track and field star Jesse Owens and his triumph at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.

Stephan James is on board as Owens, while Jason Sudeikis, William Hurt, and Carice van Houten will also star alongside Irons.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March 2016.
