Jennifer Lawrence used to get told by producers to lose weight when she first started acting.

The 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' star admits her self-esteem was crushed when she was younger because filmmakers used to tell her she needed to shed a few pounds at a time when she felt comfortable with her look.

Speaking to Us Magazine, she said: "When I was younger, I would do some movies where producers told me to lose weight. I remember that really breaking my heart because it's hard to hear that you need to lose weight when you don't think that you're fat."

The 23-year-old actress believes Hollywood is putting a lot of pressure on people to look like a celebrity, but in fact pictures are often airbrushed and people's figures are edited to make them look thinner.

She explained: "People are watching us actors, looking at our bodies and comparing themselves to Photoshop pictures of celebrities."

Jennifer is adamant she won't starve herself in order to fit into a tiny dress and believes beauty is expressed through confidence.

She previously said: "The world has this idea that if you don't look like an airbrushed-perfect model. You have to see past it. You look how you look, you have to be comfortable.

"What are you going to do? Be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That's just dumb."
