Lawrence became the youngest four-time Oscar nominee yesterday after she found herself in the Best Actress race for her central performance in Joy, her third collaboration with filmmaker David O. Russell.

The Oscar winner went on to say that she was 'honoured' to be recognised alongside so many other great female performances from the last year.

Speaking after the nominations were announced, the actress said: "I am beyond grateful and humbled by this nomination. I feel incredibly honored to be recognized among the other amazing women in this category. Joy is an incredibly inspiring story about an ordinary woman who does extraordinary things.

"For me, working with David O. Russell has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I share this nomination with him as well as our incredible supporting cast. I could not be more proud to be a part of this film and thankful to the producers and Fox for their unyielding support."

Lawrence won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook three years ago, a movie and a performance that really sent her star rocketing even further.

She also has a Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nominations for her performances in Winter's Bone and American Hustle.

This nomination comes just days after Lawrence triumphed at the Golden Globes, taking home the gong for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.

However, the Best Actress category is a tough one as Lawrence is nominated alongside Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan and Charlotte Rampling for their work in Carol, Room, Brooklyn, and 45 Years.

Larson and Rampling have both been nominated for the first time in their careers while this is a first Best Actress nod for Ronan; she picked up a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in Atonement. Like Lawrence, Blanchett is a former winner; scooped the prize for her performance in Blue Jasmine two years ago.

The Oscar winners will be announced on 28th February. Joy is out now.
