Jennifer Aniston says that she is ‘amazed’ that her new movie Cake has been getting a lot of love and support, despite missing out on a Best Actress Oscar last week.
Aniston was expected to pick up her first Oscar nomination for her central performance in Cake, but was snubbed with the Academy nominating Marion Cotillard for Two Days, One Night instead. However, Aniston is thrilled that the movie - which has not yet been released - is getting all of this attention.
Speaking to Ellen, the actress said: "I'm the number one snubbed! That's the silver lining!
"It hasn't even come out! That's the crazy thing - we're so shocked and amazed that we have had this much love for a movie that hasn't even been released yet."
It hasn’t been completely doom and gloom for Aniston in recent weeks, as she picked a Best Actress nominations at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild. She missed out at the Golden Globes to Julianne Moore - who is expected to win the Oscar for Still Alice - and the SAG winners will be revealed on Sunday.
The Best Actress will see Moore and Cotillard joined by Reese Witherspoon, Felicity Jones, and Rosamund Pike for their performances in Wild, The Theory of Everything, and Gone Girl.
Cake see Aniston take on the role of a woman living with chronic pain who becomes fascinated with the suicide of a woman who attends her support group. This is a performance that we have never seen from Aniston before and looks set to be the one that changes the direction of her career.
Cake sees Daniel Barnz in the director’s chair for the first time since Won’t Back Down, while Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington, Felicity Huffman, and William H. Macy make up a terrific cast list.
Cake is released 20th February.
