Jeffrey Wright says that the message in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has huge social relevance.
The actor is one of the new faces to watch out for when the film hits the big screen this autumn, as he is set to take on the role of Beetee.
And the actor says that this movie is more than just a blockbusters, it has vital messages about war and the impact of war.
Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "[I] read the books - not before being invited to be a part of it... and I realised that, yes, this is a huge movie and big budget and a lot of action and sci-fi elements and all that, but at the same time the messaging within these books and within the movies is really interesting and really relevant, particularly for younger audiences.
"Issues around war and the consequences of war and the consequences of war on warriors and people - the human elements of that - I don't think we can address enough.
"And if we can do it in a way that's as thrilling as these movies are, more power to us."
Catching Fire is the second of Susanne Collins' novels to be adapted for the big screen; The Hunger Games was a huge box office success last summer.
Wright is just one of a string of new faces as Catching Fire features the Quarter Quell; past winners are brought back to do battle in celebration of the 75th Hunger Games.
