We’re not entirely sure what to make of NOW TV’s latest stunt celebrating 25 years since the original Jurassic Park movie hit the big screen. Now, we know that Jeff Goldblum’s shirtless scene in the film sent pulses racing all those years ago, and it’s an iconic moment of cinema that has gone down in history, but to bring a 25ft statue of shirtless Goldblum to London? Well… That’s just… Well, it’s quite hypnotising, really. Check it out in all its glory below:
Set in front of Tower Bridge, the Jurassic-sized sculpture has been causing a stir with commuters and passers-by throughout the day (July 18), just as the original scene did following a T-Rex attack on Dr. Ian Malcolm in the Jurassic Park movie.
The sculpture has been six weeks in the making, with 250 painstaking hours of work put in. The 25ft long statue comes in at three metres high, and weighs an incredible 150kg.
Goldblum has spoken about the hysteria surrounding the scene in the past, explaining: “It’s supposed to be Costa Rica, right? So things are hot and I’m sure I’m in some sort of fever. So all the logic is that we got to get some of these wet clothes off immediately. As I remember, I don’t think anybody fought me on that.”
Asked about the memes created celebrating the scene, he added in his chat with Jordan Vogt-Roberts: “I admire them myself. It’s great, the human body is beautiful in all ways.”
Jurassic Park, along with a whole host of other movies are available now on streaming service NOW TV with a Sky Cinema Pass, £9.99 a month, contract-free.
