Jeff Goldblum has described his character in Thor: Ragnarok as a 'hedonist' and a 'pleasure-seeker'.
Goldblum is one of the big new additions to the Thor franchise and is set to take on the role of the Grandmaster in the third standalone film for the popular character.
The movie will see Goldblum star alongside franchise favourites Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Idris Elba and work with new Thor director Taika Waititi.
Speaking about his role in the film to Empire, the actor said:
He's a hedonist, a pleasure-seeker, an enjoyer of life and tastes and smells. I thought, 'I can do that, I'll bet!' I'm working on my part every day. I'm a sponge, researching.
"[Director Taika Waititi] is encouraging me to improvise and make it my own, and that's what I'm trying to do. I hope he doesn't throw me out on the first day!"
Goldblum is not the only exciting new addition to the cast list as we are also going to see Cate Blanchett and Karl Urban take on the roles of Hela and Skurge for the first time.
Thor: Ragnarok will be the third of three Marvel films to be released next year and will follow on from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. It will be the first Thor film since the success of Thor: The Dark World back in 2013.
As for Goldblum, he is set to return to the big screen this summer as he reprises the role of David Levinson in Independence Day: Resurgence. The movie sees the actor reunite with director Roland Emmerich, who he first worked with Independence Day back in 1996.
Goldblum will also reunite with actors Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch while Liam Hemsworth and Charlotte Gainsbourg are two of the big new additions.
Thor: Ragnarok is released 27th October 2017.
