Jason Statham has revealed that he didn't really want to play the villain in Fast & Furious 7.

The British actor will be one of the new faces on the cast list as he is set to play Ian Shaw, the brother of Owen Shaw.

Speaking to Empire the actor said: "I didn't really want to play the villain, but there are certain moments where you think it might be a good time to do that," the British actor explained.

"I'm not saying I'm the full-blooded... I'm not going to tell you too much about what I'm going to do in the film, but if it's a good villain, there's obviously some consideration to be made.

"There are some really bad villains out there, and I don't want to get myself wet with that s**t."

We saw Statham very briefly at the end of the sixth film as they set up this new character for the next instalment - which is due to start filming later this year.

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson will all be back for Fast & Furious 7.

Statham will be back on the big screen this week as he stars in Hummingbird.

Fast & Furious 7 is released next summer.
