Jared Leto has revealed that it was a real challenge to lose all the weight for his new film Dallas Buyers Club.
The actor plays a transsexual with AIDS in the new film, which sees him team up with actor Matthew McConaughey.
When The Wrap asked about how he lost the weight the actor said; "I stopped eating.
"It wasn't an easy thing to do. It was 30 or 40 pounds. After a while I stopped counting. It changes the way you walk, the way you sit, the way you think."
The movie is based on the true life story of Ron Woodroof, played by McConaughey, who starts smuggling in alternative drugs to help keep his AIDS at bay.
Dallas Buyers Club has seems to have won over critics at the Toronto Film Festival, and could well be a major Oscar contender by the beginning of next year.
The film sees a return to the big screen for Leto for the first time since Mr Nobody back in 2009.
Dallas Buyers Club is released 7th February 2014.
