Jared Leto

Jared Leto says he may take another five or six year break from acting after the success of Dallas Buyers Club.

Leto returns to the big screen this week with Dallas Buyers Club, his first film role since Mr Nobody back in 2009.

The hiatus seems to have done the actor good as he has been winning awards left, right, and centre for his performance as Rayon in the film.

And it looks like he may well scoop the Best Supporting Actor Oscar at the beginning of next month.

Speaking to RTE Ten, the actor said: "I'm ready to take another five or six years. If it means coming back with this kind of opportunity and this kind of work ... and this really important story and this tiny little film that we shot in 25 days with no lights, no rehearsal, low-budget film.

It's a miracle that it even got made. It took 20 years to get to the screen. So I feel really fortunate.

"It had been almost six years since I made a movie and I've been touring with 30 Seconds to Mars and still am touring with 30 Seconds to Mars so we'll see what happens next."

The Best Supporting Actor category is a tough one, as Michael Fassbender, Bradley Cooper, Barkhad Abdi and Jonah Hill are all in contention. However, Leto already has the Golden Globe and the SAG under his belt.

Dallas Buyers Club has been winning over audiences and critics since the autumn, and Matthew McConaughey could also triumph in the Best Actor category.

Dallas Buyers Club is out now.
