Jared Harris has revealed that he is a big fan of disaster movies.
Harris will be back on the big screen in 2014 in Pompeii - which looks set to be the biggest disaster movie of the year.
The film follows the forbidden relationship between Milo and Cassia, set to the backdrop of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
Speaking to Collider the actor said: "I loved The Towering Inferno when that came out, and of course The Poseidon Adventure was fantastic. Titanic is a disaster movie.
"What makes a good one is there has to be an emotional involvement with the people involved in that situation, as well as the spectacle.
"When you see natural disasters caught on film you realize how well they had been imagined by Hollywood for such a long time. It’s all good fun. You never know who’s gonna survive and who doesn’t."
Harris is joined by an all star cast in the film as Kit Harington, Emily Browning, Carrie-Anne Moss, Kiefer Sutherland and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje are all on board.
Harris has also completed work on The Quiet Ones and lent his voice to new animation film The Boxtrolls.
He is currently working on the big screen adaptation of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. with Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer.
Pompeii is released 21st February 2014.
