This week’s movie news is exciting to say the least; Batgirl’s costume has been revealed via an Instagram post, news on casting for Shazam! 2 has surfaced, and one Jackass star suggests that Jackass 4 may not be the end... Read about all this, and more, below!
Winston Duke reported to have bigger role in Black Panther 2
Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is rumoured to have a bigger role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, resulting in a decent pay rise.
Black Panther 2 is back up and running due to Shuri actress Letitia Wright recovering from her injuries, and THR revealed that Duke has a notably bigger role in the forthcoming sequel.
The article simply states that Duke is set to have an “expanded role in the Panther mythos”, but what this actually means for M’Baku is unclear at the moment.
Across the Spider-Verse's dimensions will all have different art style
Writer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Chris Miller, has said that he wanted each and every dimension for the forthcoming movie to have a completely different art style.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) was a stunning film for many reasons, one being its incredible and unique art style. Phil Lord, along with Miller, spoke to Collider about their ambitions for the highly-anticipated sequel.
Into the Spider-Verse was a triumph, to say the least, so expectations are high for the sequels to come.
Batgirl’s costume revealed ahead of upcoming movie
Leslie Grace, star of upcoming HBO Max’s standalone Batgirl movie, has posted a photo on her Instagram page of a first look at Barbara Gordon’s comic-accurate costume.
Batgirl will be the second time the character has appeared in a live-action film, the first being Batman & Robin in 1977, when she was portrayed by Alicia Silverstone.
In the comics, Batgirl is the alias for Jim Gordon’s daughter, Barbara; not only that, but she is a close friend of the Caped Crusader himself. Grace has recently revealed her costume via Instagram, and fans are in awe of both its comic accuracy, as well as how simply stunning it looks.
Rachel Zegler confirms her character in Shazam! sequel
Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) has recently confirmed her role in DC sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and she is just who fans expected.
Zegler will be portraying a (younger) sister to Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu’s goddess characters. A name has not been revealed for the actress’s character, but news of who the character will be in the wider scope of the movie has fans talking.
Shazam! 2 is getting fans rather excited, as the first movie was fun yet emotional, so a second movie is sure to be a hit.
The Last Duel has landed on HBO Max
Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, starring Jodie Comer (Free Guy), Matt Damon (The Martian), Adam Driver (The Star Wars franchise) and Ben Affleck (Batman V Superman), has landed on HBO Max’s streaming service, just short of three months after its cinematic release.
The movie focuses on a real story about a duel that occurred within medieval France. The duel, which is the result of trial by combat, happens after a squire (Driver) is accused of sexually assaulting the wife (Comer) of another knight (Damon).
Sadly, the movie flopped at the box office, but now it is on a streaming platform, it might fare a little better.
Sex Education and Stranger Things actors to lead new horror movie
Sex Education star Asa Butterfield (who plays Otis Milburn), along with Stranger Things actress Natalia Dyer (who plays Nancy Wheeler), have joined the cast of a new horror/thriller, titled All Fun And Games.
The movie is said to be presented to buyers at the European film market next month and, with any luck, will get the green light.
The narrative for All Fun And Games reportedly follows siblings who become involved in a demonic game; no other cast members have been announced, but hopefully more news of this exciting project will be released soon.
Johnny Knoxville infers there could be another addition to Jackass franchise
Star and co-creator of the Jackass franchise, Johnny Knoxville, isn’t shunning the idea of another Jackass movie, with the original team.
It has been 12 years since the last Jackass movie, but the crazy group of friends aren’t done yet. Steve-O, Preston Lacy, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, as well as a couple of newcomers, are among the cast for upcoming film, Jackass Forever.
Knoxville told Variety that the crew are “never saying never” when it comes to the possibility of another Jackass feature, giving hope to the ongoing franchise.
