Jamie Foxx says that making Django Unchained and working with Quentin Tarantino 'turned the tide'.

Foxx teamed up with Tarantino for the first time last year in the Western - a movie that was met with critical acclaim and nominated for a string of Oscars.

And while Foxx was already enjoying a successful career, he believes working with Tarantino did change things for him.

Speaking to The Sun, the actor said: "Django is what turned the tide. Working with Quentin Tarantino and that ambitious script, which was amazing, changes the feel.

"You work to get to a certain point, but like a lot of actors, you do plateau and you are looking around, wondering what is the new frontier. And to be able to work with a genius like Quentin changes everything."

"I will tell Quentin that too - 'You don't get it, you make people's careers, even after they have a career'. There is a label, a stamp you get when you work with Tarantino."

Foxx returns to the big screen this week as he takes on the role of Electro in The Amazing Spider Man 2, alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

He switches the blockbuster for the musical later this year, with the highly anticipated remake of Annie.
