Jamie Dornan has been welcomed to the Fifty Shades of Grey cast by author E.L. James.
It was revealed earlier this week that Dornan would be replacing Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey.
Dornan had been one of the major contenders since Hunnam walked away from the role, but the likes of Alexander Skarsgard were also believed to be in the running.
James talked about the casting of Dornan on Twitter: "Stow your twitchy palms ladies... our man is here. Welcome to #TeamFifty @JamieDornan1 x (sic)"
Bronagh Waugh, Dornan's co-star from TV series The Fall, has also thrown her support behind the casting of the actor.
She posted: "I think my onscreen husband @JamieDornan1 has just landed THE biggest role of the CENTURY!!?! How will I ever be naked with him again?!!!
"Love you @JamieDornan1 very very proud of you you wonderful man you!!! #FiftyShadesofGrey #sexymurderoushusband #imabornagainchristian xxx (sic)"
Dornan will take on the role of Christian Grey alongside Dakota Johnson, while Sam Taylor-Johnson is in the director's chair.
The novel has been adapted for the big screen by Kelly Marcel: who has just penned the screenplay for Saving Mr Banks.
Fifty Shades of Grey is released 2014.
