James Wan has revealed that he was inspired by the original The Haunting when making his new film The Conjuring.
Wan is back in the director's chair this summer he returns to the horror genre with this new film.
And the director says he very much liked the feel of The Haunting and tried to capture that in this movie.
Speaking to Collider the director said: "The film that I want to make is a more classical chiller.
"If you look back at the original Amityville Horror, I think it was kind of in-your-face for the time. But if you look back at it now, it’s definitely a much more moody piece.
"One of the big inspirations for me on this film is the feel of that period. Still one of my favourite movies is the original The Haunting.
"I love that style. I love that feel, and I want to take that feeling and apply it to this story."
Wan is a dab hand when it comes to horror films having delivered Insidious and Saw in recent years.
In fact was are going to see him at the helm once again later this year when Insidious 2 hits the big screen.
