James Spader has revealed that he was drawn to the humorous side to character Ultron.
Spader is one of the new additions to the cast list of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and is set to cause havoc for the planet and the Avengers themselves.
But Spader admits there are many different sides to this character, and that was the major appeal when he read the script for the first time.
Speaking to Total Film, the actor said: "There’s a humorous aspect to him, which is something that drew me in from the very first conversation I had with Joss [Whedon].
"In many ways he’s a child, this character, because he’s a brand new being who’s just come to be. And yet, through artificial intelligence, he has an incredible capacity for knowledge. So he’s a very powerful, smart child."
The first full length trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron was released earlier this week, which gave us our first proper look at this latest Marvel movie villain.
Spader is not the only new face on the Age of Ultron cast list, as we are going to be introduced to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Paul Bettany is also on board as The Vision, while Andy Serkis made an appearance in the new trailer: we are still not certain which role he is going to play in the film.
Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo will all be returning to the roles of Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, and Hulk.
As for Spader, he can currently be seen in new film The Homesman and the second series of The Blacklist.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is released 24th April 2015.
