James McAvoy has described working alongside Patrick Stewart as an 'honour'.
McAvoy and Stewart are both set to reprise the role of Charles Xavier in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
It is the first time that these two actors have worked together, and the first time we have seen both versions of the same character appear in the same movie.
And McAvoy admits that it was a huge fan to get the chance to work with Stewart.
Speaking to the Press Association, the actor said: "It was lovely. I've been a big fan of him and the Star Trek films for years.
"He was incredible as Captain Jean-Luc Picard - (he had) so much gravitas, so much weight, so much authority and nobility - so to get to do my bit against his bit and put our two conks in profile together was really an honour."
Days of Future Past is the second X-Men movie for McAvoy: he played Xavier for the first time in First Class.
This new film will feature characters from the original and new franchise, as director Bryan Singer attempts to make the most epic X-Men movie to date.
X-Men Days of Future Past is released 22nd May.
