James Marsden has thrown his support behind the casting of Tye Sheridan as Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse.
It was announced last week that Sheridan has been brought on board as a young Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men movie, which will see him take over the role from Marsden.
Marsden play Scott Summers in X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand, and has called Sheridan a 'wonderfully talented actor.'
Speaking to Hitfix about the casting, Marsden said: "I think he's a wonderfully talented actor who blew me away in Mud," he said.
The actor went on to say: "I've never seen a kid that young be that present and that powerful. So I think he's a perfect fit, and I congratulate him."
Sheridan is not the only new face that will be on the X-Men: Apocalypse cast as Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp landed the roles of a young Jean Grey and Storm. Oscar Isaac was also cast list year as Apocalypse.
They will join franchise favourites James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult will be back as Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast. Filming is set to get underway later this year for a 2016 release.
As for Marsden, he will be back on the big screen later this year Grizzly and D-Train, the latter is playing at the Sundance Film Festival. He has also completed work on Accidental Love and Unfinished Business.
Accidental Love will see the actor star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel and Kirstie Alley, while Vince Vaughn and Dave Franco are on the cast list for Unfinished Business.
