James Cameron has revealed that the next two Avatar movies will ‘complete a story arc’ but are not a trilogy.
Cameron is currently working on script s to his 2009 smash - which went on to become the biggest grossing movie of all time.
In the past the director has hinted that he would like to explore the waters of Pandora - but the films that go ahead will be stand alone projects.
Speaking to Fox News he said: We're shooting two films back-to-back, so I'm writing two scripts, not one, which will complete a free-film story arc - not really a trilogy, but just an overall character arc so I'm pretty excited about that.
"There's always an expectation. I had to deal with that after The Terminator back in 1984. All of a sudden I had a big hit movie and it was, 'What are you doing next?'
“But my job is take the audience on a journey and entertain them. The second I am sitting down writing, I just go to Pandora. The characters have their own lives."
We haven’t seen Cameron in the director’s chair since Avatar, however he did produce Sanctum earlier this year.
