The fifth instalment in the legendary Indiana Jones film series has almost wrapped filming, producer Frank Marshall has revealed in a post on his Twitter account.

Taking to social media, the the filmmaker, who goes by the handle of @LeDoctor on the platform, posted a picture taken at the Pinewood Studios lot, with the simple caption "Home stretch...", along with an #IndianaJones hashtag. You can see it for yourself below:

After the lukewarm response to fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which dropped back in 2008, there will be a lot of pressure on those working behind-the-scenes to get this new entry in the series right.

Not much is known about the plot that will be woven through this feature, but there are rumours that it could be set in the 1960s, around the time of the Apollo Moon Landings. What this means for Harrison Ford's inclusion remains to be seen; will he be a central figure or, will a younger actor play Indiana in some of his earliest years for the majority of the flick?

Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Boyd Holbrook and Shaunette Renée Wilson are also amongst the cast, but it's Boyd Holbrook - perhaps best-known for starring in Netflix series Narcos - who would best suit that role of a young Indy.

Despite entering pre-production back in 2016, Indiana Jones 6 has been through quite the laborious process, with screenwriters coming in and out and, no early official word on whether Harrison would even agree to return.

When James Mangold took over directing from Steven Spielberg however, he made it clear that there would not be a recasting for the titular hero, before writing a new screenplay alongside brothers Jez and John-Henry Butterworth.

Whether what they've come up with will live up to the hype of what audiences expect after all this time? We'll have to wait and see.

Exactly when Indiana Jones 5 will hit the big screen remains to be seen, but we'll bring you more news and updates as and when we get it. Expect it to hit cinemas in mid-2023, if recent murmurings are to be believed.
