Ron Howard has been behind some terrific movies during his directing career, and now he is back with In The Heart of the Sea, which is one of the 2015 movies that I am really looking forward to.
Howard has given us movies like Apollo, A Beautiful Mind, and Cinderella Man but In The Heart of the Sea will see him return to the director's chair for the first time since the fantastic Rush in 2013. The movie will also mark his second collaboration with Chris Hemsworth - who he worked with for the first time on Rush.
Hemsworth is a favourite here at FemaleFirst, and he has a very busy 2015 ahead of him where In The Heart of the Sea is just one of the exciting film projects that we are going to see him star in. However, this nautical drama is something very different for the popular actor, which will show him off as more than just a superhero star.
The brand new trailer for the movie is here and we have it for you to take a look at:
Hemsworth takes on the central role of Owen Chase, and is joined on the cast list by Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Paul Anderson, Benjamin Walker, Charlotte Riley, and Michelle Fairley.
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. "In the Heart of the Sea" reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive.
Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
The new film year is going to be kicked off in fine style with a whole host of terrific looking movies on the horizon and In The Heart of the Sea is promising to be one of the films that really is not to be missed. I am a big fan of Howard and it is always exciting to see him back in the director's chair.
