Idris Elba has revealed that he would love to tackle a musical and more comedy roles.
Elba showed off his serious side as an actor last year as he took on the role of Commandant in the hard hitting Beasts of No Nation - a role for which he has received critical acclaim.
But the British actor admits that he would like to take a break from these kinds of roles and take on a musical or comedy project.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I want to do a musical and a comedy all rolled into one. I'd love to do more comedy, I never get a chance to do that. It could be fun to do something less serious."
It has been a hugely successful week for Elba as he picked up two Screen Actors Guild Awards; one was a Best Supporting Actor gong for his performance in Beasts of No Nation.
His performance also saw him in the Golden Globe mix but he did miss out on a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination; something that has sparked a diversity row in Hollywood over the last few weeks.
2016 is set to be a very busy year for Elba as Bastille Day is set to hit the big screen and he has also lent his voice to Zootropolis and The Jungle Book.
The Jungle Book is a live-action adaptation of the Disney classic and will see Elba lend his voice to the character of Shere Khan. Jon Favreau is in the director's chair for the film, while Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Ben Kingsley, and Lupita Nyong'o make up the impressive cast list.
Elba is also the big new addition to the cast list of Star Trek Beyond, which is the third film in the new Star Trek franchise. It is set to be one of the biggest summer movies of 2016.
While there may not be any comedy or musical roles for Elba at the moment, he surely is one of the most in demand actors working in Hollywood at the moment.
