Ian McKellan has filmed his final scenes as Gandalf for Peter Jackson's The Hobbit.
We will be seeing McKellan return as Gandalf this December in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and There And Back Again twelve months later.
Filming has been underway in New Zealand and now the British actor's journey as the wizard has come to an end.
Peter Jackson posted this image of himself with Ian McKellan saying: "Seconds ago we finished our last shot with Gandalf.
"The end of an incredible adventure that began in 1999. I'm feeling very sad right now."
We first saw McKellan take on this role in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the ring and it went on to be his greatest role and the trilogy was a global smash ten years ago.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure was a box office smash when it was released last year as it grossed over $1 billion.
We are also going to be seeing the actor return to another role next year as he is set to reprise the character of Magneto in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The film sees Bryan Singer back in the director's chair as actors from the original X-Men trilogy and the new film series come together for the first time.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
