Ian McKellen has compared Gandalf to Magneto, saying that the X-Men character is not as good as the wizard.
McKellen is set to reprise both characters in the next six months as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and X-Men: Days of Future Past are set to be released.
X-Men:Days of Future Past is the first time we have seen McKellen take on the role since the success of X-Men: The Last Stand.
Speaking to EW the actor said: "The odd thing about a Gandalf is that he’s good through and through. Magneto is a bit of both.
"He’s well-intentioned, but he perhaps politically is not very sound, and I’m not sure that I quite agree with his tactics."
Days of Future Past will see McKellen reunite with Patrick Stewart as he and Professor Xavier enlist the help of Wolverine - once again played by Hugh Jackman.
The new movie will see two actors take on the role of Magneto as Michael Fassbender will also be reprising his role from X-Men: First Class.
And we will be seeing McKellen back as Gandalf this week in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug; the second film in The Hobbit trilogy from Peter Jackson.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December
X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 22nd May 2014.
