Principle photography on Ronnie Thompson’s ‘I Am Soldier’ has wrapped following a five week shoot in North Yorkshire, and today sees the release of the first images from the film.
The cast led by Tom Hughes (Cemetery Junction) experienced sub zero temperatures and challenging elements to film the action thriller about SAS Selection.
Alongside Tom Hughes, ‘I Am Soldier’ stars BAFTA award winner Noel Clarke (Kidulthood), Alex Reid (The Descent) and a wealth of emerging British talent in George Russo, Josh Myers, Dave Goodman, Ian Pirie and Jordan Long.
I Am Soldier follows Mickey (Tom Hughes) as he takes on the most dangerous military training known to man: SAS selection. The Special Air Service (SAS) is the United Kingdom’s most renowned Special Forces regiment, tasked with missions in some of the most dangerous places on the planet.
Mickey is smashed by the selection process, not only physically but mentally and emotionally, from torturous tabs over the steepest mountains, running for his life on ‘Escape and Evasion’ missions and enduring the most horrific interrogation imaginable.

‘I Am Soldier’ extends the successful partnership of Lionsgate UK with writer/director Ronnie Thompson following the release of ‘Screwed’ adapted by Ronnie from his bestselling book of the same name, ‘Tower Block’, Ronnie’s critically acclaimed directorial debut and the recent completion of ‘Green Street Hooligans: Underground’ penned by Thompson.
‘I Am Soldier’ is produced by James Harris and Mark Lane under production banner The Tea Shop & Film Company alongside Lionsgate UK and is set for release in the autumn 2013.
