Hugh Jackman says that there are some 'real cool ideas' being pitched for a possible sequel to The Wolverine.
Wolverine has become one of the most popular superhero characters in recent years, and return to the big screen this summer.
Talks about a possible sequel are underway, although nothing is set in stone.
Speaking to EW the actor said: "I was on the phone with Jim Mangold last night.
"There are some really cool ideas that I’m dying to tell you, but that would be giving away a secret that is not even [fully] formed yet."
And while there are ideas for another movie being batted about, Jackman says he doesn't want to rush into another film just for the sake of it.
"I don’t want to dive into another one until we have a compelling reason to do another one. I love the character, he’s kind of like a best friend to me, and I don’t ever want to take [him] or the fans for granted.
"I think we’ve got a great opportunity to make something really cool, but it has to be great. That’s what we’re all working toward."
However, we will be seeing Jackman back on the big screen as Wolverine next year in X-Men: Days of Future Past as he reunites with director Bryan Singer.
He will also star alongside Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan once more - you will have seen a teaser scene at the end of The Wolverine if you bothered to say through the credits - as they join the impressive cast list for the First Class sequel.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 22nd May 2014.
