Hugh Jackman in The Wolverine

Hugh Jackman in The Wolverine

Hugh Jackman has hinted that The Wolverine is completely different to other X-Men movies that he has starred in before.

The actor is set to reprise the role of Logan this summer in the second stand alone movie for this character.

And Jackman reveals that second time around this is a very character driven movie that tonally is very different to what has gone before.

Speaking to Total Film the actor said: "I'm thrilled the studio called it The Wolverine instead of Wolverine 2, because we're trying to set it up as a standalone picture.

"Tonally, it's different from the other X-Men movies. It's got massive action sequences, as people would expect, and it'll be great fun.

"But it is a character-driven movie. It's about a guy completely out of his element, in this world that's foreign to him, and how he copes with that.

"I feel like we have the opportunity to deliver that badass, kick-ass Wolverine I know everybody wants to see."

James Mangold is in the director's chair this time around as he reunites with Jackman for a second movie together.

Jackman will also be reprising the role of Wolverine later this year as he is set to appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The Wolverine is released 26th July.
