Hugh Jackman has been linked to the central role of new adaptation of The Odyssey.
Homer's poem The Odyssey is set to be a big screen makeover and Jackman is in very early talks to take on the role of Odysseus in the film.
TheWrap reported that there have been several discussions between the Oscar nominated actor and the filmmaking team but Jackman's representative was quick to tell the publication "this is a conversation at this point. Very early stages and nothing is confirmed."
The Odyssey is set to have Francis Lawrence in the director's chair and this will be his first film project after leaving The Hunger Games franchise behind.
Lawrence has been at the helm of that film series since Catching Fire and Mockingjay Part 2 - the fourth and final film - will be released this November.
Should Jackman land the role of Odysseus, it would be the first time that he has worked with director Lawrence. At the moment, Jackman is the only name that is linked to the project.
However Nina Jacobson is on board to produce as part of Color Force, while Peter Craig is believed to be penning the script. Both Jacobson and Craig have worked with Lawrence on the Hunger Games franchise.
As for Jackman, he will be back on the big screen this autumn as he takes on the role of Blackbeard in Pan, a new version of Peter Pan from British director Joe Wright.
The popular actor has also completed work on Eddie the Eagle, in which he will take on the role of Bronson Peary alongside Taron Egerton as Eddie Edwards.
Jackman is also linked to reprising his role of Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse, filming is currently underway with Bryan Singer in the director's chair. He will also be back for a third solo Wolverine film, which looks set to be his final outing as this iconic character.
There is currently no word on when The Odyssey will go into production or when it may be released.
